CIN & DOS
“Music and the dance floor can really make or break a wedding reception, and Katie absolutely nailed it. We've had countless people say that it was the best wedding dance floor they've ever been on, and one friend who immediately asked for Katie's details for her own wedding. From our initial meeting right until the day, Katie was so organised and insightful about our wishes that we knew we could rely on her. With every little request, Katie was more than happy to accomodate which made our night just that much more special. She took our requests and recommendations and created a flawless set (with so many special mixes) that had the dance floor packed right until the lights turned on. We could not have been happier with how our night turned out and will be forever grateful to Katie for that!” - Matt Dos
Huge shoutout and a massive thank you to these rock stars! Their wedding day was nothing short of magical, and I'm thrilled to share the story of how it all unfolded….
Our initially meeting was like catching up with old mates. Cin’s eyes sparkled with genuine happiness, and her laughter was infectious. Their photographer Tyler Brown, effortlessly captured Cin's beauty in every shot. Through Tyler's lens, the magic of their wedding day unfolded in a series of stunning photographs showcased below.
Meanwhile, Matt stood tall as a big, friendly giant. With his easygoing nature and genuine interest in others, I could see he had a knack for becoming best friends with everyone he met. I found out Matt had actually produced a song back in the day with his mates. The song was called ‘Chilin at the Skatepark’ featuring some cool lyrics and even a bit of scatting . Without hearing the song I knew it had to be played on the night. Matt airdropped me the song and I listened to on repeat on way home having a good laugh. It became an instant favourite and it turned out to be a hit on the night.
These two had put so much thought into their wedding music it was clear it was so important to them. We reminisced over our fav punk anthems from Blink 182 to Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance to Panic! At The Disco.
Their wedding reception was held in the south west at the epic Tiller Farm. The talented Coby Grant, beautifully covered ceremony music and cocktail hour. Her gentle melodies and soothing tones of acoustic music provided the perfect backdrop to the wedding cocktail hour.
In anticipation for the Bridal Party Entrance guests were led inside to find their seats, here they would find handwritten individual thank-you notes from Cin to all 120 of their guests. I thought that was soo special.
The Bridal Party made their entrance in pairs each with seperate pump up songs like ‘Let’s get Loud’ by JLo and ‘Sandstorm’ by Darude. These songs were fun party starters for dinner as Cin and Matt preferred upbeat music to be played during this time.
Over entrées the sun was setting so guests took the opportunity to capture some golden hour shots. I took advantage of the moment to play ‘Unwritten’ by Natasha Bedingfield which the guests loved soaking up the golden glow and singing out loud. Later, as the delicious mains came out, I set the tone with 'Chicken Fried.' This resulted in another sing-along frenzy that had all the guests joining in.
After a few speeches all guests moved outside to dance floor. Things were kicked off with a father-daughter dance to ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ by Stevie Wonder. This was followed by the first dance, a perfectly executed slow dance to ‘Latch’ by Sam Smith’ mixed into the Disclosure Remix. Soon after all guests joined in, and the vibes were set.
After a quick dress change, Cin was back to rock the dance floor and savour every moment with her handsome hubby Matt. At one point during the night, I looked over, and Cin was challenging someone to a push-up competition. Classic Cin.
The do NOT plays of the night were Nutbush City Limits, Love Shack, Dancing Queen / Any other Abba songs apart from Gimme Gimme Gimme, Spice Girls any S Club 7.
All a bit controversial if you ask me but I was able to avoid them. The mix of music we did go with was an absolute blast, spanning from classic dance hits to R&B bangers, not to forget all the punk sing-alongs which filled the night with energy and excitement.
The party was so much fun; it could have gone on all night, thanks to the many espresso martinis consumed during cocktail hour.
Their final song ‘The Best’ by Tina Turner summed up the night perfectly.
Simply the Best.
xoxo Katie
